My television is my new date on most nights.

Paul and Olivia are huge fans of watching the Food Network, but I didn't catch on until my roommate started leaving it on late at night. Alton Brown was doing an episode of Pad Thai, and as he was describing fish sauce, he opened a bottle and took a big, cringing whiff. Who in their right mind would do that? It put a vision in my head of when I was a kid and I'd get made fun of for smelling like home cooking. It would be like standing next to a Filipino kid and sniffing their clothes for an hour. Why you would stick your nose into a big 'ol bottle of fermented fish juice? Even Alton said bacteria wouldn't mess with that potent stuff.

sniff sniff

Did anyone catch Tim Gunn's Guide to Style last night? Can someone please put me in touch with that man? I want to be advised on fashion tips as someone is playing with my hair. I want to be trying on designer dresses from Tim Gunn's fabulous friends. I especially want to meet this Life Stylist of his. Or rather, this cute hipster version of a psychologist. If anyone that cute wearing a sweater and sports jacket combo told me to believe in myself, fuck yeah I would turn my self perception around.

make it work

I also caught the marathon of Top Model 5 earlier this week. I thought Tyra Banks only made me cry in my worst nightmares. She can snap these young models in half with just one, quick, swift, annoying comment! She probably eats the girls that get kicked off when no one is looking.

I've decided not to be too dedicated to Top Chef this season because no one is as cute as Ilan. So I'm only watching the 2nd season reruns. Remember the episode where he and Elia shaved their heads and they tried to shave Marcel's lush locks off too? Man. Too intense. I don't know if anyone has seen Ilan's hair currently, but he's starting to look like Vanilla Ice. Not cool.

ice ice baby

I can only probably fit in 3 episodes of Bleach before I go to Life During Wartime with Arcadias (Rob & Darren from The Changes) at Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago Ave., FREE before 11) tonight. I'll have to catch up w/my non-HD boo later.

*Don't worry. I'm Filipino.

Being Italian I know how it is to smell like food. Mainly garlic and basil. I feel your pain.

Did you hear about Josie Smith-Malave from season two of 'Top Chef'? Evidently she got attacked.
