CIFF 2007: Day 11 - Malcolm McDowell

Malcolm McDowell

"One of the most insolent actors in the history of the movies," according to film critic Michael Wilmington, Malcolm McDowell was at AMC River East 21 Monday for a screening of the film of his one-man show Never Apologize.

McDowell called the show, which talks about his relationship with director Lindsay Anderson, "an actor's love poem to a director."

McDowell shows himself to be an intimate storyteller, and with the help of letters from and diaries of Anderson, he paints a respectful portrait of the man along with many amusing anecdotes about the British film and theatre industry.

This is probably sad and showing how uncultured I am, but whenever I see him I think of the Star Trek movie where he and Captain Picard fight on that cliff so they could travel in time.

OMG! His eyes are still terrifying even as an old, old man.
