CIFF 2007: Day 12 - Last Screening
The Chicago International Film Festival ended for me yesterday with my final screening. It's been fun, and stay tuned tomorrow for pictures of tonight's closing night event The Savages.
OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies (OSS 117: Le Caire nid d'espions) is the eighth installment in the French spy series, but this time, it's a spoof. And a pretty funny one at that. Jean Dujardin plays the titular super, stupid spy (his performance has a very Bruce Campbell vibe), who must attempt to find out the reason for his old partner's death. He becomes more intrigued by the operation of the covert chicken factory than the actual details of his mission and inadvertently begins a rebellion by Muslim extremists in the process. You have to love a movie that somehow fits in the line, "It's 1955, don't [the Nazis] deserve a second chance?"
OSS 117 screens tonight, Oct. 17, at Landmark's Century Centre Cinema @ 9 p.m.
