Nada Surf: from Popular to Lucky
Nada Surf's single"Popular" made them the temporary apple of MTV's eye way back in 1996, but the band is more than the quirky high-schoolish image they put forth all those years ago. They've made a respectable number of albums since then, including the much-praised Let Go in 2002, which was reissued the following year by Barsuk Records, home of Rilo Kiley and John Vanderslice, among others. Next came 2005's The Weight is a Gift, which was produced by Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie fame.
And now, this just in: Nada Surf's newest album, Lucky, will be released on February 5, 2008, promising a collection of glimmering, alternatively minded pop songs. "See These Bones," a track from the upcoming album, can be heard on Nada Surf's myspace page. Death Cab for Cutie fans will most certainly want to listen up. -Cory Robertson
