Best of April Fools Day 2008
April Fools Day has come and gone, it’s now (moderately) safe to believe what you read on teh intarwebz. Here’s my top 5 pranks from this year’s festivities:
Kongregate, home of independent flash games, announced the launch of their highly anticipated CCG, Korgai.
World of Warcraft announced a new hero class for the upcoming second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. With Blizzard’s recent acquisition by Activision, makers of Guitar Hero, this brought out both the WoW haters and the “why don’t you just learn a real guitar” forum trolls.
The BBC released a documentary narrated by Monty Python alum, Terry Jones, featuring migratory penguins (link goes to the Telegraph’s host, since the BBC iplayer only works for those in the UK)
Geek outfitter ThinkGeek.com announced, among other things, a Betamax to HD-DVD converter, for all your obsolete videos.
Nestle announced that their Butterfinger candy bar will now be known simply as “the finger”
Ah yes, those geeks and their pranks. At least we know that they're never gonna give us up, let us down, or turn around and desert us.

I love that penguin prank!
And I heart Rick Astley. His CD was my mom's and my soundtrack for cleaning the house, so I have a soft spot for his jams.
As someone who can sniff out a rick roll three clicks away, the kongregate one caught me completely off guard.
The fact that Rick Astley was my wife's AND my daugther's soundtrack for cleaning the house years ago, accounts for the fact that I now have a cleaning crew. I am still in therapy.
