Radiohead: All Nude for Five Dollars

Radiohead’s “Name Your Own Price” concept worked like a charm. So well, in fact, that the buzz from the band nearly drown out the accolades of the music itself. Can you think of another album in which reviewers chose to talk more about a band’s business model than the content of their album?

Now that everyone’s done patting each other on the back, Radiohead’s got another challenge the masses out there. Remix their new single “Nude.” You’ll note that Radiohead, everyone’s favorite anti-corporate band, has teamed with Apple for this project, breaking down “Nude”’s tracks into 5 “stems” and selling them on iTunes for a dollar each. Buy all 5 and you can get an Apple GarageBand file to start your mix. (Hint: If you’re reliant on a downloadable GarageBand template to start your mix – prolly not gonna win this contest, sorry.)

Everyone who visits RadioheadRemix.com can vote for a winner. What the winner wins? Aside from satisfaction… apparently nothing. As I check the site, Canada’s funky experimental noise dudes Holy Fuck are up by about 2,000 votes. It is physically possible for Holy Fuck to wind up perform their "mix" live with the Lollapalooza Headliners (though they're scheduled to play Norway's Oya Festival two days later.) Anyway, rumor starts now! -Brian Howe Battle
