I <3 Chicago

Just got back in from New York.

Little update...

FRIDAY: Played at Studio B in Brooklyn where OFFICE (sans bass player) and Tigercity rocked it. Thanks to Rok One for letting us spin his party! It was, as the name of the night implies, FUN. OFFICE, whose bass player's plane was delayed, had to buck up and play as a quartet and minus a guitar. Scott braved through the bass part like a champ and they still pulled off a great set! Got to see miss Kerry Finerty and make fun of some wannabe model posing in the green room.

SATURDAY: After a packed show at Mercury Lounge, the OFFICE after party was at the Manhattan haunt Home Sweet Home. Unfortunately for Bald Eagle and I, only ONE turntable was functioning. Without CDs we were sure to be screwed, however, our glorious NYC dj connection Lauren Flax helped save the day and helped us work out a system through Serato to use the one lone turntable and 2 channels. It was tough, but we were able to, after a good half hour of hell, spin. Many props to our girl Lauren! THANKEE!

Anyway, it is great to be back in Chicago. There is one thing I am disturbed by when I go to NYC. I always feel like I am in a time warp to the 80s, but not in a good way. The silly 80s fashion and massive amounts of coke those hipsters do there —YIKES. I guess I am glad I am not hip, but a huge lame ass dork. Let's hope Chicago does not fall victim completely. I see symptoms, but on the whole, Chicago is D.A.R.E.ing to stay outta that trend. Let's hope it stays that way. Some trends are not worth following.
