Be Threadless, Go Bump and Get Crafty
I'm out of town this weekend, trying to steer a rental compact car through the mean streets of San Francisco. I plan on making my way to Napa, biking through the redwoods and making contact with some dodgeball folk. Sounds somewhat on the lame side? Sure is! Here's what I'll be missing this weekend, so you, the dedicated UR Chicago follower, should go in my place.
FRIDAY
OMG! Threadless now has their store up and running! What better way to celebrate their grand opening than to throw an all ages show at Metro! Trust me when I say the Threadless kids know how to have a good time, because the UR folk hear them running around in their warehouse, acting a-fool, ALL day. Not only will you get to listen to some great bands like Hey Mercedes, Anathallo and Freer (Also OFFICE, White Hot Knife, the Assembly and DJs Mother Hubbard & Bald Eagle at the after-party) but you can watch everyone point at each other and compare how many t-shirts they have in common.
SATURDAY
I'm not sure which was more embarrassing at Juke-a-palooza, pretending like I knew how to juke or quickly throwing down some DDR moves to blend in to the crowd... If only J-timbs would descend from the heavens and show me some of those sweet, sweet dance moves. If you happened to be graced with the power to look like you know what you are doing instead of me this week, go to Lava (1270 N. Milwaukee) on Saturday because it quite literally will BUMP. Saturday's lineup includes Tone B. Nimble, Steven Miggedy Maestro, Murry the Magnificent, and Daryl Diggs. Get there before 10:30 and its free to watch people's feet.
SUNDAY
I have the same "dang!" button as Matt Roan that I purchased at Renegade Handmade. I saw it on his jacket last night, but I didn't tell him that I also had it on my jacket. If you want to be as cool as Matt Roan and I, then you need to go to the last day of Renegade Craft Fair and buy cute buttons, cute mittens, cute handmade jewelry and, you guessed it, cute screenprinted posters. I am a huge supporter of all things crafty, so pick me up something nice and give it to me as my "Welcome back from San Fran" gift.
High five.
