Get excited! A little_. Or not at all.

So we were already schooled by the grammar sheriff. Today's lesson is in punctuation.

The lovely Lizz Kannenberg asked today, "Does anybody wish there was a form of punctuation between a period and an exlamation point?"

To which I replied, "Why Lizz, a lot of people wish that, because such a form of punctuation has recently come into existence."

Everyone, meet... the pomma point: _.

Yep, an underscore and a period. As stated on the creators' website: "Haven't you ever wanted to express mild excitement? What is the appropriate punctuation? There is no appropriate punctuation in English. Hence, the Pomma Point, halfway between the period and the exclamation point."

Seriously. The Chicago Tribune even ran a recent story on it, so you know it's for real.

Woot! I mean, Woot_. - Kim

Or we could just continue to use a period to show underwhelmed excitement at the end of a exclamation. I.e., "Yay." Or "Woot."
