Smoking is Banned: No Two Ways About It

Um, well… I mentioned last week that there were bars that still allowed smoking but that they would “remain nameless”. Little did I know that the EXACT bar I was referencing would be the first one caught for violating the no-smoking ban.

BUSTED!

The Two Way done got caught. Tragic. Via CBS 2 news:

Michael Trzaska is lucky neither he nor anyone else had to dig in their pockets after the Logan Square bar he co-owns earned the dubious distinction of being first Chicago establishment found in violation of the state's new smoking ban.

A city inspector saw two patrons at Helen's Two Way Lounge light up on Jan. 20 and wrote the bar up, but because the state law makes it difficult to write a ticket locally, Trzaska got off on a technicality, Chicago Health Department spokesman Tim Hadac said Monday.

So, wait a second. They got caught, but they got off. In other words, Helen’s Two Way just got a flippin’ LOAD of free advertising from every major local network. Not bad for a bar that was supposed to close their doors less a year and a half ago. Oh, while I’m dropping free publicity, check out EveryoneIsFamous for candids of scene kids running amok at Le Deux Way.
